Oh summer. . .Most people say 'There's nothing like a homegrown tomato.' I agree they taste good and of course don't have all sorts of chemicals the ones at the grocery do, however, my personal favorites are the wonderful cucumbers and carrots.
(Katy, Ben) and Steve, from Shaky Acres have outdone themselves this year. Shown here are red-skinned and white carrots. Not parsnips, white carrots! I've never have one before, and it won't be my last. There are some left over, which I will either just grab and eat later or combine them with beets and potatoes for an early season root vegetable soup in the next few days.
Tonight I'm having the last of my Grilled Chicken with Jim's Zucchini Relish, and these awesome vegetables.
No recipes, just scrub (don't peel) cook till barely done, slice, butter, salt and pepper.
I'm so thankful for the wonderful food we have available to us - in the U.S. - in Market Season and all year around. . .Lin
